SPORT POLICY

Clarendon has a compulsory sports policy. All girls are required to participate in the schools
summer and winter sports programmes by choosing a minimum of one summer and winter
sport. We would encourage the participation in at least one team sport during the year.
Only in n exceptional circumstance will girls be excused from this commitment. Requests
for exemption from sport should be made by the parent/guardian in writing to the Head of
Sport.

We offer a range of options, ensuing that every girl will find a sport that suits her personality
and interests.
We believe that physical activity and development are an important part of the holistic
approach to education. Participation in sport promotes valuable life skills, such as teamwork
and sportsmanship and develops resilience, determination and the ability to deal with
disappointment.

Derby days enhance our sports calendar and we participate in four annual derbies which are
eagerly contested.
Teams play matches on a weekly basis against schools in our area.
Inter house matches are played at the end of the summer and winter programmes.
Tours are undertaken by some of the sporting codes. A highlight is the Annual All Girls Sport
Festival which is hosted by various schools each year.
